Tim Young
I
am a Counsellor & Psychotherapist in private practice based
in Worcester City.
For the 12 years leading up to September 2003 I was employed by the NHS
as a primary care counsellor, working within 3 GP surgeries in

am a registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with the United Kingdom
Council for Psychotherapy
(UKCP). I am also registered as a Primary Care Counsellor with the national Association of
Primary Care Counsellors and Psychotherapists

I am
Vice-Chair and professional member of
the Midlands Institute of Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy
(MIICP)
at the Birmingham City University.
I am also in a business partnership with a local colleague to provide
high quality psychology & psychotherapy training to local counsellors,
psychotherapists and psychologists
I have been involved in a national working party led by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) looking at 'management standards for work-related stress', and Worcestershire County Council Education Department's 'Healthy Schools' project. My Counselling theoretical Perspective Although my core theoretical training is that of 'Person-Centred Counselling', I consider myself an Integrative therapist as I assimilate a number of theories, concepts and models from numerous psychotherapeutic paradigms. I have undertaken specific training in the following psychotherapeutic approaches; Person Centred Counselling Psychodynamic Therapy Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Systemic Family Therapy Transactional Analysis (TA) NeuroLinguistic Programming (NLP) Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Constellations Theory Eye Movement, Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) I am an accredited EMDR Psychotherapist (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing). This technique has been found to be of significant benefit to those suffering trauma, particularly post traumatic stress. The National institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) has recently published guidelines on the treatment of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in which they recommend EMDR as a treatment of choice.
